More and more people are suffering the emotional and material distress of the growing tension in the Berlin housing market. Yet, many remain reluctant to accept the reality, clinging to the belief that if one works hard enough, they can pull themselves up by the bootstrap. Following this logic, everyone is to blame for their own misery. But is that so?
My brother Elias and I set out to meet three people, that have been threatened by homelessness. These conversations reveal that all three of them have been part of the solid middle class – until they weren’t anymore. This short doc was filmed and edited in one week of June 2021.
